I have used my 40160H jointer more than I had anticipated I would since I bought it a little over 2 years ago. I originally had the HSS blades and had long ago rotated them to the second cutting edge. Most of my projects were using soft woods, very little hardwood. The HSS just didn't impress me for long term durability. I decided to try these tungsten carbide blades. I just received these the other day and put them on and tried them out. They fit perfect, as expected. What had been taking me several passes with the old blades, took only a single pass with the new blades. Cut great. This should be true for any new, sharp, blades (HSS too). Nevertheless, for the additional $15 over the HSS, you get TC blades. If they stay sharp longer, and hold up, that means more efficient work and less frustration; that alone is worth the additional price. Time will tell about long term durability, but so far I'm happy with this purchase.
