Introducing the sizable, extra wide 10” Cutech jointer with the much sought after cast iron tables. The substantive tables provide a total working length of 54” when fully extended, perfect for larger woodworking projects while maintaining a compact footprint. Beneath the tables are full size Table Supports with the adjusters positioned near the outer edge for added stability. The new longer fence gets extra support from the fence enhancement brackets. The updated Safety Guard is designed for added structural rigidity. The rib pattern prevents any flexing while maintaining its maneuverability. The 401100HI comes with a larger 12 Amp motor, giving it a boost of 20% more power than the smaller models. This is an outstanding jointer! The construction is exceptional and out of the box this thing is amazing.
I received my 1o inch jointer a few days. Assembly was very easy. I figured it was going to take a while to get set up but it really was spot on! No adjustments were required. This jointer will be perfect for my small shop.
Downsizing my shop to make it more mobile so I looked for a bench top unit to replace the 8” Powermatic I’ve had for twenty years. The 10” jointer with the optional cast iron fence was perfect out of the box. No need to adjust or align tables which surprised me. Given the short tables I don’t expect to do anything much longer than 8’.
I am a serious hobby woodworker, this is my second Cutech jointer. I have used the 8" for a few years.
Pros:
It came in decent packaging with no damage to the machine. Shipping time was 3 days. I was interested in the 10" capacity and am glad I purchased the optional cast iron fence with reinforcement brackets so much more than the aluminum fence. I was blown away by the perfectly flat beautifully machined surface of the infeed, outfeed tables and fence. The tables were also properly setup from the factory. I ran about 100' LF through it with excellent results.
Cons:
1. The pull out extension bars have 4 knuckle guards that are a rubber material. When I try to straighten bowed boards they bump and drag over these bumpers making it difficult to push the wood over. (I am concerned it may cause my hands to slip when pushing to overcome the drag to get past these.) I intend to make two flush fit filler boards that drop over the top of these bars on both ends to overcome it. My 8" had hard plastic bumpers and did not seem to be the issue these are. (See photos)
2. Although minor, when changing the depth you have to first unlock an unmarked knob on the front. More than once I forgot to unlock it and started to force adjustment. So I put a large cap over the lock knob with "LOCK" written on it in large font.
3. The embossed raise and lower knob is not highlighted so its hard to see, so I used a sharpie to make it easier for these aging eyes to see.
Con's are minor, and I am impressed & very satisfied with my purchase.
Great machine. I’m getting perfectly flat and square boards. Only had to install the fence The bed was perfectly flat out of the box. Best I’ve seen
