12 ½ inch Spiral Cutterhead Benchtop Planer - CUTECH 40700H

Works as designed. Spiral cutter head is the way to go. On first use I fed several 8" wide boards of well dried tropical hardwood called Guayacan through & performance was great. Huge difference in sound & power requirements from straight-blade planer of equal of more expensive price.

I have not had this machine very long, but it does a beautiful shop bring old boards back to life. The cut is smooth and even. It’s worth the purchase.

My only fault with this machine is that it does not have a blade/depth stop. I saw a video comparison of this machine to a comparable Wen machine and the author pointed out that the stop on the Cutech was better. I was disappointed the machine I received does not have a blade/depth stop. My experience with the machine so far has been very good.

This planer is excellent, not very noisy. The lowering/raising handle works well, inserts are sharp, long lasting.

I'm new to woodworking, but I'm quite pleased with this planer. I've run some softwoods through it to test it so far and am pleased with the result. I got the carbide insert version and it seems to perform nearly as well as my friend's Austrian planer in terms of surface smoothness. There is a little bit of snipe, but it seems like it will be manageable with a sander. The fold out tables came nearly perfectly leveled. The machine seems to be well built and the level of debris is minimal with a 5 gallon shop vac. I look forward to working with some rough cut sapele in the near future.
