Why Choose an 8 Inch Jointer

1. Versatility
An 8-inch jointer is capable of handling a wide range of board sizes, making it a versatile tool for various woodworking tasks. Whether you're working with narrow or wider boards, an 8-inch jointer can accommodate your needs.
2. Efficiency
With a larger cutterhead, an 8-inch jointer can process boards more quickly than smaller models. This can save you time, especially when working on larger projects or with a larger volume of wood.
3. Quality of Cut
Larger jointers typically have more powerful motors and larger cutterheads, which can result in smoother, more consistent cuts. This can improve the quality of your finished projects.
4. Stability
8-inch jointers are typically more robust and stable than smaller models, which can make them easier to use and can result in more accurate cuts.

8 INCH JOINTER FAQS

Q1: Why would I choose an 8-inch jointer over a 6-inch model?

An 8-inch jointer offers a wider cutting capacity, allowing you to work with broader boards. This can be especially beneficial for projects that require larger pieces of wood.

Q2: Is an 8-inch jointer big enough?

An 8-inch jointer strikes a balance in functionality and it is the best long-term investment. While it's adequately sized for a majority of tasks, it remains manageable and not overly cumbersome. Its extended infeed and outfeed tables offer stability for bigger projects.

Q3: How often should I replace or sharpen the blades on an 8-inch jointer?

The frequency depends on usage and the type of wood being jointed. Hardwoods can dull blades faster than softwoods. It's essential to regularly inspect the blades for sharpness and replace or sharpen them as needed to maintain optimal performance.

    Good support people

Bought my 8" jointer/planer 3 years ago. It's never worked right. Finally I contacted Cutech. Told them my problems and they immediately helped me. Sent me 2 new tables, took awhile to tune the tables in but now problem solved. Works great now. Great people and a wonderful company to deal with. Gave me all the help I needed. I’d recommend Cutech and their people 100%. Jointer now runs great. Thanks Cutech.

Glad That I Bought This One

I set this up with a Rockler Magnetic Jig and I couldn’t be happier with the results I've gotten. Out of the box the tables were ready to go, very little setup time involved with pro results for a very good price.

    Great jointer

I am getting no tear out even on my figured wood with light passes and slow feed rate. I have not set up the fence as I have a 6" jointer that is set up at 90°. I'm happy with my purchase.

As far as 'bench top' goes.....

it's not bad. I cannot complain about the quality of cut and you won't either if you buy this jointer. It cuts amazingly well.
But it does have some limitations...of course most of these limitations are due to the fact that it's a bench top jointer and we all know limitations comes with the territory.
Chief complaint, the fence. To small and too weak. Add to that the cumbersome adjustability of it. In fact, I've given up on cutting anything other than 90°. I don't want to go through the frustration of adjusting the fence. But even with it set at 90° I have to keep a very close eye on it. Pulling out my square about every 3rd or 4th pass to check. The heavier, longer the piece the greater chances of it moving out of square. So keep your pocket square near by. The extendable rails are nice and actually stay on the same plane as the table but you are crazy to think you are going to run anything over 4-5 feet in length on this jointer. In fact, the harder the wood the shorter it should be. Again, the fence is the limiting factor here. The motor is just fine and handled white oak and mesquite effortlessly. It's just the damn fence. I've even thought about having a custom one made and permanently installing it at 90°. You will need a vacuum as the shavings will pile up and clog the port if you do not. For a small shop that does little projects, it's nice but if you are wanting something for larger projects, save your money and go with a floor model of your choosing.

I have been extremely pleased with this jointer so far. The extra width really comes in handy.
